Nivani Island - Zero wreck anchorage
Anchorage · Deboyne & Torlesse · Louisiade Archipelago, Papua New Guinea
Open Nivani Island - Zero wreck anchorage in the interactive mapHighlights
- Japanese Zero fighter (ditched 1942 after the carrier Shoho was sunk off Misima): upright, wings buried, ~2-3 m, about 50 m off the beach at the Panapompom end - lionfish in the cockpit. Find it from the dinghy. Older bearing (Currency Lass): line up the first palm from the old jetty with the black mark on the cement tank and head out until a sliver of black shingle beach shows east of the sand spit. SV Obiwan (2022/23) found it sanded over and not visible - may come and go with the sand.
