Shelter
Calm with no swell in 15 kn SE in the western lagoon; the eastern part (24 m) is exposed and poor. Small - rally fleets take turns.
Getting in
Follow the waypoints; the dark patches in the entrance can be ignored. Use ~40 m of chain. Jimmy often paddles out to pilot boats in.
Bottom
sand
Holding
good
Ashore
Jimmy built the only "yacht club" (and book swap) in the Louisiades - sign the visitors' book. Kamatal is a natural overnight stop for sailau between Misima and the Calvados, so you'll see canoes coming and going. Best water visibility in the Louisiades and deep coral walls outside (trevally, red emperor, coral trout). Water tank not always full; well water brackish.
People
Jimmy - 'harbour master' and yacht-club founder (2009-2023)
